But, really, the dog comes first
MD Sheep and Wool Festival, 2011
(O.k. reviews and staid reporting aside: Dude took 171 pix.)
(!!!)
(And I will share them with you.)

This was outside the booth of Dalis Davidson of Dancing Leaf Farm.
x
It was an Excellent Fun day. (Made 1000 million gazillion times better by going on Friday to help setup. That meant I had a chance to talk to people.
And having a reason to fondle every single skein of Nona wasn’t bad either.)
x
Dude and I started early. As much as I tried to talk myself out of going (you know, that whole mantra thing “I do not need any yarn”. Whatever.) This event is so huge and so close, I just can’t stay away.
xx
Besides, I had to get my tomatoes.
xx
x
(A quick aside down the garden path: I made an executive decision to quit trying to start from seeds until I am retired. I simply don’t have the time to get the little dears hardened off. And planting from seed left me without any basil last year. My best tomatoes have consistently come from this place.)
So … plants (tomatoes, peppers, catnip, basil, flowers, cilantro, and preying mantis eggs) purchased and set aside, we were still early.
x
x
We were so early, the food vendors didn’t have a line.
x

We were so early, Jen wasn’t ready for us yet.

But here’s a closer look at those feet:
Aside from yarn, I love to see the displays. I saw one of these, in the wild, and it was gorgeous. And the pattern has only been out a month.
This is Phoenix Rising by Sivia Harding (and it has beads, which makes it hard to photograph. Click on the one below to embiggen.)
Every year I admire the intarsia map of the world

This year, there was this to gape at:
There was this amazing fat yarn:

And a selection of fiber related stuff:

And the animals:

Oooh – what fun to see how my Phoenix Rising looks in the wild! For anyone considering it, it is a very easy and impeccably written pattern. Thanks a million for letting me see where it ended up at MDSW!
Perhaps it was karma that I wound up with an oriole in my yard yesterday – made me think of all of you there!
