But, really, the dog comes first

So, I got nothin’
May 14th
Nothing except dirt under my nails and a sunburned neck.

Despite Ned’s excellent assistance with ripping out the carpet in the spare bedroom,

he was duly banished from the room.

Or maybe it was an escape attempt:

Despite Ned’s assistance, the carpet was removed, revealing lovely wood floors that will not need refinishing.
x
So I moved on to spreading mulch on the garden beds.
x
(I think I’m finishing up the second cubic yard and we’ll need a third. It is an excellent work out. I am very tired.)
x
At least the weather if fabulous:

I needed something simple with large needles (between the carpet and the mulch, my hands need to take it easy), I casted on this Mega Skein from Tilli Thomas (acquired at Maryland Sheep and Wool, because I was curious)

I thought the first fabric was too stiff, so I frogged and went up a needle size. (Usually, I go down a size. Or two.)
Then I thought it was too small (circumference), so I frogged and tried a scarf.
Then I realized that, at this needle size, there was no way to smooth a triangle scarf increase (and I wasn’t going for the stair step effect), so I frogged and went back to the original mobius cowl.
I casted on 1/3 more stitches for the cowl. And now I am happy. If not very far along.

So … nothing but dirt under my nails, a sunburned neck, gorgeous wood floors, lovely gardens, a mischievous cat, and a half done mobius cowl.
In which the recovery continues

You know, every time I do one of these events, I learn bunches about what works, what doesn’t, what we need to ask, what we need to bring, packing, talking, and exhaustion. (At least there was no Funky Chicken Dance.)
And tomorrow is Robot Ship Day (All the robots are crated up, picked up and stored by FedEx; then delivered to scheduled matches on time. It gives the students all the same amount of time to create the beast.)
Knitting today was a total fail. The weather has gotten colder (although there was a day when I had windows open – that was before the event and so long ago in my mind it could have been last year.)
So lets talk about critters Ned:
.
Apparently, it can wait.

So … Ned declined to show you how he got up into the ceiling by himself:
Dude provided some assistance (I think you can see that this is possible, yes?)
For his next trick, Ned dumped over the (large) bucket of soaking handknits. (No pix. I was mopping the floor. And counters.)
But as I scanning the camera cards for something to write (you know, after coming out of hibernation and blinking in the sunlight) I found this:
Fitting Glove, with Cat.
I’d swear that he is a monster and terrible but he’s just too damn curious (and cute) and he tries really really hard.
Anybody miss Ned?

I love this little goof-ball. When he’s not annoying the hell out of me.
Nickie has a routine. Every morning, I get up. Let them out of the basement. Get coffee. Sit and drink coffee and read email. Nickie waits for me, on the stool next to my computer at the kitchen island.
When I settle, she crawls into my lap and snuggles and purrs.
When the coffee is done, so is she. And she doesn’t try to snuggle more (unless I’ve been away). She’s interactive and requests stuff (Open the door! We’re out of water! Make Ned stop!) but she’s not needy. Sometimes, if the birds outside are boring and we’re watching a movie, she’ll snuggle on the couch.
Ned, on the other hand, has an on/off switch - Mr Don’t Touch Me! has a soft side.
He’s starting to snuggle – snuggle hard, insistently, needily. He crawls into my lap and circles 3 times and kneads endlessly and then settles down and purrs.
And somehow, he gains about 3 times his weight when he finally falls asleep.
